Immortality Questioned

The reigning Division I Champions & the first honourees of the MOF Hall of Fame, Happy Feet United and promoted 529’ners met for the very first time and as most may have probably expected before the game, there probably ain’t gonna be any big surprises. Given that promotees Le Freakz, Toh Guan Krew and even reigning Division II Champions IF:v2, fell at the feet of the Penguins, one cannot help but think and anticipate the same fate for 529’ners.

The state of affairs steered in that exact direction when HFU took the lead in the 23rd minute. With both sides sparring and cautious in their approaches, the game was a tight one albeit the Penguins having the upper hand at some momets. Then the men in green replied against all odds to level the score at 1-1.

In the 63rd min, the 529 camp burst into jubilant celebrations when they clinch the lead over the Champions. With the score at 2-1, there seemed to be a spark of hope finally …. for an unprecedented upset.

However, the Champions were well composed enough to dash any possibility of that ( upset ) happening when within a min from the goal they restored the game back on level terms. The game proceeded with both side having moments of brilliance for the next 16 mins and conclude with a 2-2 draw.

With a stable of worthily won accolades behind them, this result displayed a real possibility that the Champions could one day be beaten. Unfortunately for the 529’ners, the day was not on Sunday. Nevertheless, and regardless of the manner in which the draw was effected, 529’ners’ efforts showed that day can materialise.

As for the Champions, would this sound an alarm for them as a difficult Season 6 and a Season 5 Cup Final awaits them. Well, we doubt so. But it is without question that the myth that Happy Feet United is unbeatable is now gathering clarity in that more moments like these will spur the other teams on, to beat the Penguins.
