Once again, for the coveted MOF 11s Sunday League Division I title, it is down to the wire. This time, it is not the typical down to the “down to the last game”, “whoever wins wins” nor the “waiting up for a favour elsewhere” kind of scenario for title chasing Project Vaults FC. However if they pull off this game, PVFC will still have to depend on favours from Sol United thereafter.
Playing second fiddle to the 3 time Division I Champions Happy Feet United for 2 seasons in a row and the last season’s MOF Cup is never a feeling to be desired upon. However, it remains a huge and mountainous task this time for the Golden Eagles, as they attempt the almost impossible, to snatch the title under the nose of Happy Feet United.
Behind the Penguins by a mere 2 points but having played one game more, PVFC must look to register a double win this Sunday, with a full 2nd leg full game as well as a remaining 18 mins to play for the 1st leg; with the need to overturn a 2-5 deficit for the latter.
If the Golden Eagles can force a draw for the rematch segment and win the 2nd leg game ( happening on the same day ), that will bring them to 27 points, 2 above HFU. Then they will have to hope that HFU will lose or draw their last game vs Sol United to land the title. Any other permutations for the rematch segment will mean Happy Feet wins the title yet again.
The game will happen at Marsiling Secondary School this Sunday at 1100 hours. We wish both teams the best.
