MOF 11s Season 2 Cup Finalists Torpedo Rovers FC played out a convincing win over Sunday League Division V side Sotea Galaxy in a MOF 11s Season 5 Cup Round 3 tie, setting up a Quarterfinal meet up on 12 Oct 2014 with Season 4 Division V Champions Aquila FC, who demolished TRFC’s fellow Sunshine League team, Rendezvous FC in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out just a week before.
The commencement of the contest was not at all desirable for STG as TRFC raced to a commanding 2-0 lead within the short span of 7 mins, with talisman striker #7 Yusoff getting on the scoresheet. It didn’t take long before the striker struck again 8 mins later to conclude the one-sided affair 3-0 to TRFC at the break.
STG have had few moments of brilliance of their own but struggled with coping the relentless attacks of the Rovers, as illustrated by the 4 yellow cards dished out by the referee to the STG players.
