Luckless Lads 13 Falls At First Hurdle
The opening game of the current Season’s MOF Cup witnessed 2 of the youngest side in the MOF League face off with each other on Sunday.
Lads 13, the 1st Runners-Up of Division VII the last season, were at the wrong end in their 1st game during last season’s MOF Cup when they threw away a 2 goal lead to lose via penalty kicks to eventual Semi-Finalists Toh Guan Krew. Granchio Rosso did better the last campaign when they, at the same stage, lost via penalties to fairy tale side ACCDOK United side.
Fate has it that this tie has to be concluded in the same manner as the preceding season of the Cup competition. This time round, Lady Luck smiled on the boys in Blue; however not without a scare. After going ahead with 2 quick goals within the first 7 mins, GRAN had to fend off fierce forays into their fort as LAD fought back in the last mins to draw 4-4.
It was not meant to be the day of the Lads as they fell behind to a crucial kick after the much dreaded penalty kick affair progressed into the sudden death stage.
No less than an exciting tie, the Lads can nevertheless hold their heads high in giving GRAN a run for their money.
