529’ers Claims First Giant Scalp
A new season, a new beginning. A victory against the mighty Project Vaults FC in the new Season’s opening game in the top flight wouldn’t have been any better and sweeter for newly promoted 529’ers. Finishing 2nd last season in Division II of the MOF 11s Sunday League, the nervousness could not be discounted for the men in green as they start their campaign against a strong opponent in PVFC.
Thankfully to the 529’ers, with the Golden Eagles having duties elsewhere in a 7v7 tournament and hence missing several key players, but coupled with a strong showing by 529, the anticipated superiority was sort of struck out during the game.
The contest stood goalless for a good 30 mins before Captain Marvel #22 Faizal of 529’ers drew first blood for this side. Between this period till 8 mins before time, 529’ers slotted home another 3 goals to bring the shocking scoreline to 4 goals to nil. PVFC managed a consolation right in the dying minutes. With the claiming of this valuable victory complete at the final whistle, 529’ers jubilantly rejoiced at a well-deserved win.
With another promotee Le Freakz now at the top of the table of Division I with 6 points from 2 game, albeit one being a Walkover win awarded, the Division I is shaping up to one that is open as it is now. However, amidst the excitement, the greatest hurdle remains, for the 7 teams in Division I to attempt what teams have failed to do for the last 2 season, beat the current reigning Champions, Happy Feet United.
